What Our Customers Think
Why We Love Great Neck, NY
About Great Neck
Great Neck, New York, is a region on Long Island that covers a peninsula on the North Shore and includes nine villages, such as the villages of Great Neck, Great Neck Estates, Great Neck Plaza, and Russell Gardens, and a number of unincorporated areas. The area, which also includes a school district, park district, library district, and is part of the Town of North Hempstead, is known for its quality of life and the quality of its public and private educational institutions. The name ‘Great Neck’ is believed to have been derived from the phrase ‘great neck of land,’ a reference to the area’s physical layout on the peninsula. The earliest settlers were the Matinecock Native Americans who lived in the area for hundreds of years before the arrival of the Dutch and then English settlers in the 1600s and 1700s.
